Maximum Number of Adsense Ad Unit Per Web Page

Now you know how to setup your Adsense account from Google, and you know how to grab the code and put on your website. Next is to learn a little more detail about this ad program in order to turn it into a money making tool.

Similar to other ad program, Google Adsense is strictly enforced when it comes to the policy. Users need to follow Adsense’s Program Policy to keep the account in good standing. Any violations on Google’s TOS (Term of Service) may result in suspending your Adsense account.

How many ads unit I can place on a webpage?

This is probably one of the questions that most frequently asked. The maximum number of ads that you can place on a webpage is three. Google Adsense offers two ad types:

  • Text ads and
  • Display ads

There are six difference ad size that recommended by Google. Depends on the layout of your website, it is hard to say which one work best on one’s site. Personally I used automatic size which is the responsive one and I do find it converts quite well in my case but that doesn’t mean that also apply to your website. So you got to try and test it out which one works best for you.

  • Automatic size (Responsive)
  • 728 x 90 (Leaderboard)
  • 336 x 280 (Large Retangle)
  • 320 x 100 (Large Mobile Banner)
  • 300 x 600 (Large Skyscraper)
  • 300 x 250 (Medium Rectangle)

It is recommend to display both ad types to ensure that all available advertisers can bid to appear on your website. And by displaying both text and display ads, it can also maximize your revenue.

Also, there is no limit on how many websites you can add to a Google Adsense account but just to make sure you can’t place more than 3 ad unit no each web page.

A little tip about placing your ad

Things sometimes don’t go the way like you thought. I saw websites have a mixed of numerous ads unit on one single page try to increase the conversion rate but that actually makes your page looks like scam and may probably scare your readers away.

  • Placing your ads above the fold gets better result. (This one also work quite well on my sites)
  • Like Google recommend, a combination of both image and text ads perform better.

In sum, placing ads on your website is an art, try to think of it like placing a furniture at your home, you have the budget but that doesn’t mean you have to used them up or over placing all at one place, that will make your lovely home lost of attractiveness. Same thing to your web page, try to minimize the number of ad units on the page, instead, placing it at a more visible spot for your readers to increase the possible hits.
